Last Saturday (090110), I attended a one day seminar held by Universitas Padjadjaran alumni organization at a convention hall in Bandung. The topic of the seminar itself was quite interesting, so it was such a shame that there were a lot of empty seats at the location. Some of the the people I talked to blamed the poor publication. I agreed. For instance, I received the invitation less than a week prior to the seminar.

But on the other hand, the event was a good starting point for other similar events. And the people who did came were of huge reputations. There were high government officials and respected scientists from the academic world.

So all in all, it wasn’t a waste of time. Networking was exactly the reason I came to the event. And I left the scene with a deal for a contract and a few prospects to discuss. Not bad.
